Just finished our last week of summer camp for the season. We had 34 weeks of camp in 22 different locations with 30 staff and counselors and a whopping 506 campers! We had the most weeks of advanced robotics camp this year as well as seeing the Maine Discovery Museum run the Community Builders camp for 6-8 year olds at their Bangor location. We also piloted our Build Your Own Computer Camp in Portland and Bangor and it was a great success as well.
Tired and glad the season is over... now off to kick the FIRST LEGO League into action for the fall! Tom Bickford, Director See the article in the Bangor Daily News about Karen. Karen is working several weeks this summer at our robotics camps, but she is also running a week of camp at John Bapst Memorial High School for high school girls! Way to go Karen! Maine Robotics hosted its first "Build Your Own Computer Camp" last week in Portland. Thirteen campers built up their computers from the case, motherboard, power supplies, and all the other parts that go into it. Check out an article about it from the Forecaster LEGO artist Jeff Friesen created 50 LEGO dioramas showing something (in his own mental image) of the 50 states. Check it out on Jeff's Brickfantastic website. Can you identify each state by what is in the picture? If you click on the smaller images you'll get your answer in the lower right corner (it will open up a full size image of the state) and catch the short snippet/joke that goes along with it. Post a comment with your favorite image/state! |
