Update 5/9/2014: Ellsworth Track Meet was a huge success and Paige from the Edmunds Jets (picture) set a new world record for the Speed Build with a time of 2 minutes, 1 second! Here are all the results from the Ellsworth Meet. 1st Place Champions were the Edmunds Jets with a 3/1/0 record 2nd Place Champions were the Electric Mayhem from Sedgwick with a 2/2/0 record and 3rd Place Champions were the MVCS Patriots from Machias with a 1/1/1 record (1st/2nd/3rd places) Of note: Every walking robot that entered was able to make it across the finish line in under the 60 second requirement! It was a great day and we had 135 students there!

See below: Bar Harbor's 'Pickles' got a 1st and a 3rd (out of the 80 teams competing at the World Festival) FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) World Festival – FLL introduces younger children to real-world engineering challenges by conducting research projects and building LEGO-based autonomous robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations, discover exciting career possibilities and learn to make positive contributions to society. This year’s challenge, NATURE’S FURYSM, engaged 228,000+ kids on nearly 23,000 teams to explore the awe-inspiring storms, quakes, waves, and other natural disasters. Top honors went to Champion’s Award 1st Place winner, Team 20650, Invicta, Canterbury, United Kingdom;Champion’s Award 2nd Place winner, Team 21450, Fast and Curious, Aley, Lebanon; and Champion’s Award 3rd Place winner, Team 737, S.H.I.E.L.D., Brookfield, Wis. Two big things this spring!!
Okay, you've probably seen those silly "Useless Machines" that you can get at Spencer Gifts or ThinkGeek. But here is one that is made out of an EV3 kit as well as a bunch of additional LEGOs. BUT you've got to watch this, it is hilarious. The programmer took it to another step and it is a lot of fun. Mind you it is funniest because the person in the video KNOWS what the machine is going to do... but acting and hamming it up is really the same thing, right?
