| 2008Maine FIRST Tech Tournament The FTC program is a robotics competition somewhat like the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) but with smaller robots and a smaller budget. To learn more about the program we highly recommend you spend some time on the FIRST Tech Competition website http://www.usfirst.org/what/fvc/default.aspx?id=380 The 2008 Maine Tournament will be: Mach 15th, 2008 University of Maine, Orono Campus Recreation Center This will be our 2nd year as we all continue to learn more about the VEX/Tech program. Cost for the program is higher than for the FIRST LEGO League, but a lot less than the FRC. Costs are approximated below: National registration (required): $250 State tournament registration: $300 VEX robotics kit: $350-500, depending on options Playing field: $1000+, but good for this year, next and the year after. Team Registration Form (Word) (PDF) All participants will also need to send/bring a signed participant release form. Participant Release Form (PDF) Payments accepted in the form of check, Purchase Order, or online PayPal payment through our MR Shopping Page VEX versus FTC. The FIRST VEX Competition (FVC) has been renamed the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) but at least for the moment it has remained basically the same. We assume FIRST is removing itself from a single vendor robot base (the VEX kit is from Innovation First, Inc; a company out of Texas. |
