Last week it looked like registration would maybe last until the 9/30 cutoff date. This morning we got an email from FIRST to say that they had a LOT of registrations come in over the weekend and it looked like they would be ending registration on Tuesday morning. We moved as fast as we could to let you all know about moving ASAP to get registered... but... National registration closed around 3:00 pm today. That said, not all hope is lost. If you still want to have a team there are some options:
But no matter which, you need to call us or email ASAP to see what we can do. I don't use ASAP much, but this is one of those cases. We normally pick up 10-15 registrations in the last week and we lost almost 6-1/2 days this year. It has happened in the past, but never this early that I can remember. NOTE: Maine Championship registration still starts 10/1/2012 and all team coaches will be notified of the registration process, probably this weekend. It is non-competitive so we have space for ALL Maine teams.

USFIRST informed every one today that the National registration would be complete no later than Tuesday morning, September 25th. This is a full five days early! So if you need to register do so NOW. Maine currently has 66 teams registered in Maine (same as last year) and we were expecting at least 75 teams this year, but we typically have over 10 teams register in the last week... and now it looks like that won't be happening. So please let anyone who might still be looking to register with USFIRST to participate in the FLL this year to hurry it up. REGISTER HERE for the national registration. All teams registered nationally are then eligible to participate in Maine. Any questions, give us a call or email. The FLL Season is off to a great start. We've got 59 teams registered to date and we're expecting to see around 70-80 teams enrolled for the 2012 season. National registration is open until the end of the month, so don't delay getting registered. Visit our FLL website to find our more or the National website to register a team! And don't forget the ROOKIE STARTUP GRANTS from Time Warner Cable! A great way to help pay for your first year. We have added a workshop on October 1st at the Pembroke Elementary School on Route 1 in Washington County. Thanks to Pembroke Elementary for bringing us back to the county. Visit our workshop website for more information and to register.
Don't forget, our workshop season starts TOMORROW with our workshop in FALMOUTH. It's not too late to register, just visit the link above. Once again Time Warner Cable has generously donated $4,500 to help rookie teams in Maine get their feet on the ground. Thank you again Time Warner Cable! This grant is only available for new teams or teams that did not participate in the FLL in 2011 or 2010. If your team is interested in applying for this grant then apply quickly. You may apply online HERE. New Teams can get up to $300 for equipment and/or registration (both national and state) depending upon what is needed and how many applicants there are. Teams must commit to attending the FIRST® LEGO® League Championship on December 8th at the Augusta Civic Center. The deadline for National Registration is at the end of the month, so do not wait. If you have questions please feel free to email us or call us at our office, (207)866-4340, during normal business hours. This offer is only for teams residing in Maine. To learn more about the FIRST® LEGO® League please visit the Maine Robotics FLL page or the International FLL page. |
